Hallandale, Florida is located in southwest Broward County along the beautiful, sandy Atlantic Ocean shoreline, about 15 miles north of Miami and just south of Hollywood, Florida. The 2006 estimated population of Hallandale Beach, FL was 39,372 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This was an 14.8% increase from the year 2000.

Hallandale, Florida was first settled in 1895 by Luther Halland. He constructed a small trading post and became its first postmaster. Hallandale , a thriving community of 1,500 residents, was incorporated on May, 14, 1927. Hallandale was reincorporated as a city in 1947. In August 1999, the city officially changed its name to Hallandale Beach.

Visitors to Hallandale Beach, FL, as well as residents, can enjoy sunny beaches and a wide variety of sporting activities year-round including tennis, golf, swimming, boating, salt water fishing and scuba diving. Shoppers will enjoy the Diplomat Mall, or the Hollywood Greyhound Track Flea Market. Exciting pari-mutuel wagering and slot machine gambling are available at the Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino, which hosts the Florida Derby, or at the Mardi Gras Greyhound & Gaming Center.

The northern Hallandale Beach , with its gentle lapping waves and cool breezes, is located at the Hallandale Beach Boulevard at Highway A1A. It offers amenities such as concessions, lifeguard protection, restrooms, picnic tables and showers. Another Hallandale beach is located south of Hallandale Boulevard, along Highway A1A. It also offers amenities such as concessions, lifeguard protection, restrooms, picnic tables and showers. Underwater exploration, salt water fishing and boating are also offered in these areas.

The City of Hallandale Beach, FL has constructed a state-of-the-art Community and Culture Center to host performances by the Hallandale Beach Symphonic Pops Orchestra and other cultural events.

Hallandale Beach is often referred to as the "Wall Street of the South."  Hallandale Beach Boulevard has more financial institutions in one mile than any other street within Broward County. Recognizing this, the city has designated the boulevard a Financial District east of Federal Highway.

The Broward County Public Schools, the nation's sixth-largest school district, serves Hallandale Beach. Hallandale Beach, Florida boasts 5 public schools serving 2,187 children and 2 private schools serving 164 children, as well as the Florida Ocean Sciences Institute School serving 6th through 12th grade students.  

Hallandale Beach , Florida is part of Broward County 's 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida. The 17th Judicial Circuit serves a community encompassing 1,197 square miles in South Florida and containing a population of 1.8 million. Florida currently operates under a two-tier trial court system of circuit and county courts, established in 1972. In the circuit and county trial courts, disputes are resolved by jury trials or by non-jury trials.  County Courts are courts of limited jurisdiction where misdemeanor and civil cases are heard. In the Circuit Courts, which are the highest state trial courts in Florida, felony, civil, family, juvenile and probate matters are heard.

There are four area courthouses: the Broward County Judicial Complex, 201 Southeast 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301; the North Regional Courthouse, 1600 West Hillsboro Boulevard, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442; the South Regional Courthouse, 3550 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33021; and the West Regional Courthouse, 100 North Pine Island Road, Plantation, FL 33324.
